Marsden Wheelers Criterium
Kia ora everyone
Below are some photos from the criterium session last Saturday out at Ruakaka. There was a 15 lap race but the time keepers lost track of how many laps everyone did! Timo (we think) was the winner on handicap.
Coaching tip for the day – it is better to wear gloves during a criterium. Criteriums are fun but there is a risk of falling off. Gloves protect your hands if you have a spill.
Next Saturday we are having a hill sprint up Apotu Road at the Jordon Valley end and then there will be a group ride to follow. Please note the change of venue from what is written in the calendar. Fiona Southorn who has represented New Zealand overseas as a Paralympian will run the session as Ruth and I will be away.
Next Junior Session (all Marsden Wheelers are welcome to attend):
When: Saturday 15 August (sign-on 9am)
Where: Apotu Road/Jordon Valley Road intersection (there is space to park 4-5 cars)
Course: 800 metre hill sprint
What: Riders will leave individually and will be timed at the top – group ride to follow
$2 entry please
The only good tactics for youngsters are these: train well, live clean, eat well (but not unwisely), go to bed early every night and in the race, attack, boy, attack! Charles Ruys – Australian cycle coach
